Osteopathy in Combination with Pilates

We are fortunate to have a very healthy community in Lymington. Many of our members take classes, go regularly to the gym or have a PT. Such committment to health is rare. And we can say that because we’ve run practices around the Home Counties for years and no one community has been so willing and able.

The real bonus is, when regular, osteopathic treatment is combined with Pilates, Yoga, PT sessions and strength training it becomes the perfect whole health solution.

Osteopathy seeks to balance the whole body from top to toe—not in compartments. This means that if you’re trying to improve your posture (for example), we can unwind areas of stiffness and educate you on where strengthening is needed. Sending you off to class (or to your PT) with clear instructions, so you stretch and strengthen the relevant muscle groups. This combination means change can happen faster and is much more likely to last.

Imagine this.
We used to see clients who worked 14+ hour days in the City. Travelled home on cramped trains and rarely made time for exercise. By the time they called us for help, the situation was usually chronic and painful.
Moreover, they came seeking a quick fix, which doesn’t exist with chronic postural conditions and they didn’t have time to stretch or strengthen anything because their lives were non-stop. That was the ongoing dilemma.

Today, at our (not so new) practice in Everton, Lymington, we see clients who have time, want to be fit and healthy and are willing to listen. This means we are able to deliver a truly holistic approach to osteopathic healthcare. Guiding our clients toward a life of mobility, strength and inner resilience. As they make progress with their PT or Pilates Instructor, we help their body to accommodate the transformation. And most importantly integrate the adjustment throughout the whole body.

If you’ve ever ask yourself the question, “Would I benefit from osteopathy AND Pilates/Yoga/PT?” the answer is “Yes.”

“Why?” Because, engaging in strength training while maintaining chronically poor posture or functional asymmetry can lead to the reinforcement of imbalances within the body. For instance, performing the chest press with rounded shoulders, or further exacerbating this flawed alignment while utilising a rowing machine, can compound the issue.

Your osteopath is dedicated to enhancing your posture, equipping you with knowledge on effective stretches and strength exercises, and empowering you to incorporate these practices into your daily routine. This collaborative approach fosters enduring change. Consequently, we actively promote open discussions across various professions for our clients, ensuring that everyone involved is aligned in guiding you toward comprehensive and lasting improvement.
